Single Bevel VPA 2 Blade Broadheads really live up to the hype!
They are CNC Machined from one piece of steel. The ferrule supports the head all the way to the bone splitting tip.

The Premium Tool Steel (S7) Single Bevel is heat treated to 56-58 Rockwell.

The Carbon Tool Steel (1045) Single Bevel is heat treated to 50-52 Rockwell.

The VPA single bevel line of broadheads have ideal blade thickness, extensive single bevels (35 degree blade angles), and edges that can achieve a razor sharp edge perfect for any style of hunt.

Based on the recommendations of the Ashby Foundation, their straight angular shape has an edge over curved heads as well as provide an easy long term maintenance for the product with regards to sharpening and honing the product.

Take advantage of the single bevel edge that helps with continued head momentum and penetration.

Note: Always match right bevel with right helical vanes/feathers and left bevel with left helical vanes/feathers. Broadheads come with a factory grind. Final sharpening is recommended prior to hunting.

How to Sharpen

VPA recommend the following method to sharpen their Broadheads.

  1. Start with 300-400 grit paper/stone of your choice. We like to use diamond stones.
  2. VPA single bevels (not the Omega) have a 35-degree blade angle. You will need a jig that can sharpen 35-degree blades. We recommend the KME sharpener on our website. For VPA single bevels, you WILL need the Spacer Block accessory. You will also need the Delta Jaws accessory if the broadhead is under 2 inches in length (100 grain-250 grain).
  3. Next, put the broadhead in the jig and find the angle where the blade is flat on the stone. It does not need to be exact, just close. Mark the edge with sharpie and do a few strokes with medium pressure (1 stroke = back and forth). Check the blade, adjust the angle, and repeat this process until the sharpie is evenly removed throughout the entire blade. You may need to apply a little more pressure to one side or the other to hit the perfect angle.
  4. Once the perfect angle is found, do about 25 strokes with medium pressure. Carefully take your finger and run it down the blade. Repeat this step until a light burr can be felt on the entire backside of the blade. If you feel a burr on only one side, apply more pressure to the other. *This step can take time*
  5. Once a light burr is felt along the entire edge, flip the broadhead over to the back side and lightly drag it backwards on a strop, piece of cardboard, or a finer grit stone/paper. Keep feeling the blade and dragging it backwards lightly until the burr is gone. The blade should feel smooth.
  6. Next, move to 600-800 grit stone/paper of your choice and repeat steps 3, 4, and 5. *We recommend doing one side all the way through so that the same angle is kept the entire process*
  7. We have found that 600-800 grit is all that is needed to have a hair shaving, ready to hunt broadhead. If you desire to move on, we suggest moving to 1000-1200 grit next, then 2000. Once you are finished, strop it on leather and move to the next side.
